The Six Sigma Difference

Rooted in Family, Ranch, and Tempranillo

Nestled in the serene landscapes of Lake County, Six Sigma Ranch & Winery is a testament to the rich agricultural heritage and pioneering spirit of the region. Family-owned and operated, our 4,300-acre ranch was built by our family to be shared with yours - a place where great wine, open spaces, and genuine hospitality bring people together.

Known for producing exceptional Tempranillo along with a diverse portfolio of estate-grown wines, Six Sigma combines innovative vineyard practices with a hands-on approach rooted in generations of ranching tradition. From vine to bottle, every experience reflects our passion for creating memorable moments, celebrating the beauty of nature, and welcoming guests to experience the ranch as part of the family.

Our Story

Six Sigma Ranch carries a long and colorful history, shaped by generations of settlers, ranchers, and a few larger-than-life characters along the way - from covered wagons and cattle grazing to poker games that changed ownership of entire hillsides.

Today, that legacy continues under the care of Kaj and Else Ahlmann, who traded Denmark for California and have made the ranch their home since 2000. What began as a shared love for long walks in nature has grown into a life rooted in the land; stewarding vineyards, raising cattle, and creating a place where others can slow down and experience it for themselves.

Over the years, Six Sigma has grown into more than a winery - it’s become a gathering place for families, friends, adventurers, and wine lovers alike. Whether guests are sharing a bottle of Tempranillo on the patio, exploring the ranch’s scenic trails, or celebrating milestones together, the spirit of the ranch remains the same: authentic, welcoming, and deeply connected to the land that makes it all possible.

Our Wine

Six Sigma Winery was inaugurated on September 28th, 2005, when we processed our first grapes, a beautiful vintage of Tempranillo harvested in Christian’s Diamond Mine Vineyard. We focus on small lot, high quality wines, and every aspect of our winery reflects that, from state-of-the-art equipment to gentle handling and hand-sorting of the grapes, ensuring that only the best fruit is used in each of our wines.

What People are Saying about Six Sigma Ranch

"This is an ideal place to relax and unwind. The host is welcoming. You can explore all of the trails. Very quiet except for sounds of nature. The tasting and charcuterie were fun and delicious. Unlimited evening access to patios, bbqs, fire pit and decks was really special."

Barbara Keaton

"The staff at Six Sigma are simply some of the nicest people you will ever meet. The owner Kaj is incredibly welcoming, and the property is gorgeous. Our RV spot was nicely secluded behind an old barn, had beautiful views, trail access and so peaceful. We even got to enjoy an special event featuring bubbles, burgers and beats. Can’t wait to go back!"

Klem Ulaga

"Great food, good music, spectacular ranch, amazing wines. We came in the night before, camped, hikes, did a MTB ride and smashed a burger and washed it down with bubbles. Fantastic 24hrs. Oh yeah! Fed Topper acorns too…"
