Christian and Rachel Ahlmann
Christian Ahlmann, Vice President; and Rachel Ahlmann, Livestock Manager
After finishing a degree in horticulture at Kansas State University in 2005, Christian worked for a nursery in Copenhagen, Denmark before returning to work in the wine industry. His experience includes apprenticeships at Rex Hill Winery in Oregon and Eagle’s Trace Winery in Napa Valley. Christian joined the family business in August 2008; he takes a holistic approach to the vineyard management by using livestock to manage the vineyard floor and avoiding the use of pesticides or herbicides. Christian received an MBA from Sonoma State Wine Business Institute in 2013. In October 2010, Christian and his wife Rachel celebrated the arrival of their first born, son Caleb. His little sister, Elizabeth, was born in January 2013, and Isabella in February 2016.
Rachel joined the family business in August 2012. She is in charge of the livestock and meat program, skillfully rotating pigs and sheep between pastures, doctoring sheep and caring for orphaned lambs. If you want a spot on the Pastured Meat List so we can notify you when meat is available, Rachel is the one to contact.
